Okay i bought some driftwood today, work has a sale $3 for a piece of driftwood a foot long! So how do i sink it? or should i get something that can hold it down or what? Help me out boyos.

Usually I rinse and soak the wood in a tub for an hour or two. I never had problems sinking wood, as it always falls to thebottom.

I would submerge it in a tub of water until it becomes waterlogged. You might have to weigh it down to keep it fully submerged, but once it is waterlogged it should sink. It might take a while to get it waterlogged though. All the driftwood I have bought just needed to be rinsed and then it went rightt to the bottom.

We hold ours down with rocks arranged around it untill it gets waterlogged (in the tank)

You can also silicone rocks to the bottom of it.

Howdy,

when you put rocks on it, there's always the danger of the wood floating too much, the rocks falling off and hitting your glass. You don't want that. Instead, use fishing line and tie rock underneath the driftwood!

I drilled holes through 1/2" slate and then mounted the driftwood onto it...haha...it worked great lemme tell yaz. I didn't like the look of all the drift wood though, and it didn't really ever become waterlogged completely. the larger the piece of d.w. the longer its gonna take.

I just came back from Mississippi and while I was there I could NOT resist goin to the river and boyous and finding drift wood. Oh man I had so much I had to have Miz help me carry it...and we STILL left some behind. The trunk of my car was PACKED! Loved it! Awesome lookin pieces of drift wood that are huge and gonna look pimpin in my tank. Wanna go back again and get some more but that will be a while. Heres what I am doing with it right now. First I rinsed it, scrubbed it and pulled off what bark i could, then i rinsed it again. Then I filled up a 35gal rubbermade trash can with HOT HOT HOOOOTT water, and put as many of the pieces in there and submerged them as far as was possible. Then i put a 30lb. dumbbell (plastic) on top to weight it down. I did this Tuesday night. Tonight I'm gonna drain all the water out, remove more bark, and fill it back up with HOT water again. First I'll test it in my tank though to see/guess how much longer it will have to be submerged. I'm thinkin about another week or so and it will be almost ready for the tank. Key thing is to be patient...;). I'll get pictures of it cuz they are pimpin pieces! :D
