Teacup (retic) = Freezer ray.

Get a Motoro unless you have successfully kept rays.

And if they're coming from where I think they are then you'de be better off spending the money on liquor cause a hangover will probobly last longer than those rays.

* I could be wrong. Won't be the first and definetly not the last.

I get it now! :duh:

What part of Iowa are you guys from?

I'm from Clear Lake. Work in Mason City.

Assuming the $60 retics are from a vendor. I've never seen any LFSs have any for under a hundy.

I think, "you get what you pay for," applies here. Don't go cheap on rays unless you just want to see that nifty death curl thing in person.

If you are going on the cheap on the Ray does that mean that you are going cheap on the filtration and tank size too? Probably. Realize that a tank that is 2 feet from front to back is a starter tank for these guys. A tank that is 3 feet deep or better is what a Ray needs and immaculate water quality. You can't get by with a 75 and a cheap HOB filter with the intent to get a bigger tank and better filter.

There is no cheap way to keep rays. They need massive tanks, awesome filtration, high quality food and a lot of work to keep the water quality pristine....

I agree on not skimping on all the accessories (tank, filtration, etc.), but I will say that there is a difference between cheap and bargain. My motoros were a definite bargain! These two were $70 & $40, respectively:

Hawk, those are beautys and really great deals. I will agree and say unless there is something you really like about teacups besides price go with motoro(s).. you'll pay a couple bucks more but IMO it will be worth it..

Contact Mike @ H20, NE Cichlids, or Fish Room Plus and see which ones if anyones can ship to Mexico..

I guess this is another case where opinions differ. I have my Marbled pup in a 75 with a single HOB filter. Doing great. You can offset cost with labor. This setup has been working great for over 2 months BUT it also gets AT least 4 waterchanges a week.

I started out my Retic in a 55 with a single HOB also. Fine for over a year. WC atleast 3 times a week. Decided I did so well with my first ray that I should get 2 more.....from a vendor. Well now I have NO retics. Draw your own conclusion. QT is your friend!!!!

Stingrays (leopoldis, reticulated, motoros, etc.) are 250 pesos where im from (in mexico) thats translates to roughly 23$, the problem is that i want one for my house in colorado.
I bought a 8" reticulated in mexico for like $30 USD,problem is they cost to much in Colorado. I might just wait until june 5th (im going back to Jalisco).
