Mine does this alot to...or he will prop himself on a plant of piece of drift wood... I notice he does it after eating, when someone stands next to the tank or makes any fast movement near the tank or after a water change.... Mine is still only 12-14 in. so he is still scidish and a baby... if you figure out or anyone knows how to fix this let me know too!

I've seen my guy do this as well. I think hes just resting because i have a lot of current at the surface of the water.

But, as soon as i approach the tank he swims around normally waiting for food. My bet is its just resting to escape the current.
