I have a small florida/spotted gar i bought at my lfs (they advertised it as Marbled Gar, as always)... Idiots. But Im positive of the species. Anyway, does anyone know how big it will get?

It could reach a minimum of 16" and a maximum of somewhere around 24" (it's impossible to place a set size on them). All of mine managed to reach 16-17 inches in a little over a year, but have not passed 18" yet. My oldest is around 4 years old.

"Marbled Gar" seems to be a popular mislabled common name for the Florida/Spotted these days.

Your only allowed to call the LFS idiots for mislabeling the fish if you already know enough about the fish to know how big it gets....

House rule.... so you get you LFS complaining rights revoked from now on...

And it is what Jordan said no need to be a bobblehead beyond that...

I knew they would grow to at least 16 inches, I just didn't have first hand experience with them, otherwise i wouldn't have asked. I wanted someone who has had one to tell me, rather than read it on some website that could be wrong. Understand?

And I do have right to call them idiots because I know more about the fish they sell than they do. Half the fish they get are mislabeled, and they don't know how to take care of them so they die in the tanks they get put into.

i'm not gna stick my whole nose into this, but i think poly was only kidding. except about the bobblehead part. i feel the same way.

ps: if you're saying the part in red to poly, you might wanna reconsider doing so:)

The part in red seems like a generalized statement to me. He just wanted first hand knowledge...no need to blow things out of context.

It's all good. I just should have been more clear in my origional post. How silly of me. It was just a misunderstanding. I'm sure he wasn't trying to challenge anyone, and neither was I.

Hope you dont take it to heart buddy :)
