Size Standards Over Years

I agree that water changes are now done more often. Ive noticed it used to be every couple months (if not over stocked etc), then every month, now every week. Also of course the oscar tank size.

Over time we accumulate more knowledge and therefore refine and improve on past practises and ways of doing things

Things have really changed over the years. 30+ years ago when I first started keeping fish as a young teen, we used smaller tanks, stocked heavier, had crappy filtration, and hardly changed water. Everything I learned about fishkeeping back then, came from outdated books at the public libary. By todays standards, everything should have died. I guess it's a good thing the fish didn't die, or I might have given up on the hobby years ago.
