skimmer and sump questions??????

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
The only skimmer I've used myself is Coralife, but when researching skimmers I've only heard bad things about the visi-jets, so I personally wouldn't run one.

The two that were highly recommended to me were the Bak-paks and the Coralife Super Skimmers. We went with the Super Skimmer because it's easy to maintain and easy to adjust to the water level. It's apparently not as efficient as the Bak-pak but I was told that the Bak-paks take a bit more tinkering so I may not want to mess with them as a beginner.

I think in general skimping on a skimmer is probably a bad deal. If you start reading reviews and asking around the cheaper the skimmer the more problems there usually are and the less efficient it is.

i belive i said that. sapphire makes good skimmers, most;y for BC's And AP's, but if u have a sump for ur tank they can go in sump's.

PEVINE, how do you know those are good skimmers?

The Coralife Super skimmers are good skimmers, like Shadow Bass said. I also run a Bak Pak and it is a great skimmer. Has worked wonderfully on my 46 for quite a few years now.
I've also heard good things about the Berlin Turbos, but have never had one myself.

Scuba, i read info about them,

like reviews, no one has said anything bad about the BC29r, there has been some bad reviews on the BC29 although about the pump. but the BC29R is the newer one and pump is better, also the BC29R can handle up to 55 gallons, as the BC29 is only good to 30 gallons.
