Skin peeling out of gar

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Oh I believe it. I never would have in the past...I'd been out of the hobby for probably 20 years, and when I was in previously pleco's were generally pretty shy retiring creatures who were never seen if they had adequate hiding spots. Chinese algae eaters were the ones we were warned about back then, to keep them away from the deep-bodied fish like discus, big gouramis etc. But the pleco I have now is totally different, he has no fear, he rolls over on his back and eats cichlid gold pellets etc. I wouldn't be surprised at all to find him sucking on a fish. Not sure if the plecos have changed (I'm thinking they're farmed and are learning new behaviors) but whatever, not taking the chance.

I still have my pleco in my tank because I dont have the 55 yet.....dont know if I will. But on a good note...my gar looks a 1000 times better. All of his skin looks healthy and his coloration has came back a ton....his spots are all dark again. All I did was add 50% of the salt(gonna add more in a min, I added half, waited 24hrs now the other half. BUt im gonna go just a little less). I also bumped my temp of to 82. How long should I keep the tank at 82? I normally have it at 76. Thanks a ton guys!
