I have a young Motoro Stingray. He eat veryl well and even eats out of my hand. I feed him shrimp that i get from the grocery store. I get raw, peeled shrimp. Even though he eats every day he is getting very skinny. His head is starting to sink in. None of the fish stores near me have any real clue on what the problem could be. One did tell me about this forum and said it is probably my best chance at getting and answer. So if any one has any idea please throw them my way.

I am no ray expert but do keep a few. Sounds like internal parasite. Usually the young wild ones will have this. Treat with Prazipro. Young rays should also eat a couple times a day. Hopefully some of the well experienced ray keepers will chime in and give you definate answer

x2 in IPs.. just about any WC fish will have IPs. I worm as a precautionary once any fish i get thats WC is established. You'll likely get better answers in the ray subforum. BUt for best responses you'll want to list your tank size, filtration, water test info, tank-mates... and anything else you can think of.

I would definitely treat as a precaution in this case. Prazipro is safe, effective and inexpensive. In addition it's a good idea to feed more variety. Shrimp is not the best and if it is a main food it can lead to a deficiency of vitamin B1. Tilapia and night crawlers would be a great addition to his diet. Good luck!

Thanks for the info. Is prazipro sold at pet stores? I got my ray in a 58gl right now. I am building a 800gl for my catfish and going to put the ray and an arowana in the 240 the catfish are currenly in. On the 58 i have a Rena Filstar3 and a Fluval 205. So plenty of filtration. Unless there is to much if a good thing when it comes to filtration. The arowana in the tank it good and healthy. It looks beautiful, has a orange tint to it and when the sun hits it , it glows. download.jpg

I would feed him as much as he will eat all day every day to fatten him up before you dose with any meds.

He looks very fragile and to be honest I would be surprised if he lives

Good luck though

I treated him yesterday with prazipro and hope it does the trick. If he dont survive your live and you learn. Just hate that he is suffering. I the past few days i have learned more about fresh water ray then I have known. I love this site, it's full of good knowledge. I will keep posting any up dates on him. Or her, not sure what he is.

That is the skinniest ray I've seen. Alive or dead.
