Skittish Cichlids? 'Freaking Out'

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Todays update, all fish keen for food at surface when I woke up, still a noticeable amount of skittishness, but once they realize I'm there to feed them they're quite happy. No real 'freak outs' like they were doing, just being very reclusive, which doesn't suprise me after I fully rearranged the tank. Will try and win them over with some Beefheart too I think. It's definitely getting better but still not sure about the cause.

Photo of tank rearrange. I still fail miserably at full tank photos, always too dark or too bright.

very nice before and after too, glad ure fish are bat to normal.

Could actually have been the curtains and unusual movement. Is/was it all the fish, or did some of them stay relatively calm all the way through?

Still loving your tank BTW. Natural look is great, and that MFK rarity - lightly stocked :)

They all seemed worried, and when one would 'snap' and go flying, a couple would usually follow. As I've said though, they're clearly on the mend and once they realize it's me (Red Hikari Bag  or Arm in the tank etc.) they're fine, but movement in the distance or figures that come up to the tank worries them.

Cheers for the kind words mate.

Just an update, fish have certainly improved and are what I'd consider to be back to normal. Still the occasional semi-panic from a fish or two when I walk up to the tank but it's quickly reversed with a burst back up to where all the other fish are hovering wanting food :p
