I have a super skittish 6-7" elongatus. He is in a temporary 20 gallon. How can I Make him less scared?

skittish fish and small tank is a terrible combination. Ur elong is just going to bump on the glass and dent up his face. dim the light and add plants. Never tryed this but cover up your whole tank so it will be all dark and nice

Try a 55 or 75 w/ a lot of driftwood and plants, when piranha get spooked their natural tendency is to hide, more hiding places the more comfortable they feel, and intense lite is bad as well, they are used to very dim lite if any. Also, if the tank isnt seeded the water could be bad and this could make any piranha flip out, test the water and do a change if necessary!

My piranha get startled if i cross the tank to fast so becareful w/ that. Piranha are very skiddish and careful fish and most ppl dont think of them like this, they think cuz their killers they shouldnt freak out but they do.

Why is he in a 20???

20 gallon?that fish is freaking out from size restrictions make it completely dark leave it alone.do you know about the fish you are keeping?

Can take months before its getting used to his tank, larger tank would speed up this proces.

Yes I do. As I said the tank is temporary, and want to get him in a 55. I don't want to get into a fight but I suggest you don't comment any more about the tank size or my knowledge.
