I would think you need a bigger tank and give it time. It's most likely wild caught so the space and time will make a difference.

Ya he's wild caught from peru

20 gallon?that fish is freaking out from size restrictions make it completely dark leave it alone.do you know about the fish you are keeping?

Also u have a 9" Oscar in a 20 gallon so I could say the same thing about you.

it's been said before but it's worth repeating, get a bigger tank asap. if it's not wanting to part with the money right now that's causing you to wait, keep an eye out for petsmart dollar per gallon deal and get a 40 gallon breeder tank. its a start.

if it hasn't been mentioned in previous posts, add a powerful powerhead.

Funny u should mention the dollar per gallon sale, when it comes around I plan to stock up on tanks. When does the sale start?

I haven't had him for months and it was for like 2 days as he broke his 3 others and needed a place to stay until I found a tank.I need to update that.I can't put it in the tub.I wasn't insulting you so no reason to be a d1ck.I asked a question if you knew about the species you have not total care in general so no reason to get all sore in the rear.and two days was barely

I'm going to get a 40 breeder with some strong filtration and power head to simulate his natural environment. Also some subdued lighting to make him feel more comfortable.

Good idea man!

A 40gal w/ ac110 and powerhead w/ pre sponge filter will be perfect! Also try microbe lift amazon extract, it makes ur water a dark amber so there isnt a need to adjust lite and your P feels more at home!

^ I've been looking for a product to dim water like that forever, also something else I might ask, can I put a fw clam in his tank to maintain water quality? My ammonia is pretty low, like .10 but I like perfect water quality plus piranhas r dirty fish
