I came across an old Ram's skull that has been in storage for a while (don't ask, my grandfather collects all kinds of skulls. buffallo, longhorn, elk...) was thinking of possibly replacing plastic plants and flowerpots with the skull. could natural bone be bad for the fish (they're SA/CA cichlids)? who thinks it would look cool, who thinks it would be tacky?

I found one thread. had the info I was looking for though. I bought some sand and have some leftover quarried granite. along with the skull and a painted-on background, my aquarium will be having a makeover, when I get the time to do all that. will post pics.

yep, that's the one I found.

This is a cool idea...if not done right tho it might look way tacky

I have some black and red pieces of quarried granite, and just bought a bag of white sand. I'm also going to lose all plants and paint the back black. It won't be 'till next week, as I'm out of town. I'll post before and after pics, and find out what people think.

I'm wondering, though, if I should bleach the skull, or leave it natural.

I THINK YOU SHOULD HAVE NO PROBLEMS IT MIGHT ACTUALY KEEP THE WATER HARD FOR UR CHICLIDS BLEACH IT BUT IT MIGHT NOT MATER YOU MAY GET ALGAE ON IT SOON FOR SURE
