Slipknot too extreme? Opinions

why does everything have to turn into a petty arguement or competition? i mean people are argueing over bands like their part of that band. either you enjoy something or you dont, not everyone has to agree with you, and if they did this world would be pretty boring.

talent. talent is the ability to sell yourself so that others can argue about you like little kids fighting over a lolli-pop. seems like every band mentioned in this thread is very talented!

I agree, but in a different sense. I think they are all talented in the essence of making money. I was purely basing my arguments off of my perception of musical merit. I wasn't intending to flame in my first post, but I got carried away. And then got a little worked up at some responses.

No matter what I think of slipknot, gwar, and any other band; I will give them respect for their marketing talent in the sense that they have an uncanny ability to make money.

my post wasnt really pointed at anyone. i no doubt love some of these bands and hate some of em. sometimes its just a giant pissing fight, but people arent even using their own piss, but someone else's.:ROFL:

much respect for you all though.

How should I respond to this? I'll just say that I'm glad you reduced yourself to taking personal stabs at people. Musicians in today's day and age present themselves, and due to consumer choice, are open to criticism. I was criticizing. Sorry if I hurt your feelings.

You could try over-look that one little part of the sentence and read the rest of my post. I wasn't 'taking a stab' at you, maybe I should re-word that to say "he's dead and makes millions of dollars per year and..." or "makes more than most of us"?
My point was that I was wondering what puts you in a position to say "Nirvana suck"? You don't like them, thats fine, but they were one of the most successful bands of the 90's, so regardless of your thoughts of their music they obviously didn't suck.
I see people trying to push their musical tastes as fact all the time, especially on the comments of youtube videos (look at almost any clash/ramones/sex pistols clip and you'll find people argueing about 'what is punk' or if 'the clash were better than the ramones'), its just stupid, everyone has a different idea of what is good music, there's no right or wrong about it.

so if this was about ford,chevy,mopar,mazda,and comparing cars and such you dont think the same would happen.
 
SlipKnoT sing about proper subjects, I'm listening to people = ****, and it's saying to me here we are, living our lives when people are in poverty, blowing all there money on drugs, homeless.
