slow fish

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
i have a school of adult glass cats and they are possibly the most 'boring' fish i have :P i adore them though. so very placid&mostly unmoving. at night though, they go crazy, but impossible to really see. they have lots of plants to hide under&are comfortable, they just choose not to move very much during the day XD dojo/weather loaches are incredibly endearing if you have bottomfeeder space. most bottomfeeders are such peaceful&charming little guys~

are they really that boring? well idk why i just love them so much and i'd love to have a school.
how big are yours? and do you think theyd fit in a 29 high? btw there is plants and lots of driftwood in the tank.
and dojos sound like a good idea, maybe i'll look for them.
also one more question for everybody..would swordtail mollies work in this setup?

they're just 'boring' in the fact that they practically never move. the rest of my tank is very active so its funny to see an unmoving mob amidst the chaos. i LOVE them, they're a favorite and the reason i started fishkeeping! their uniqueness, peacefulness- i got 7 at 1" 3 years ago, and now they're fullgrown at ~3.5" or whatever they're are. they're very lively at night in pitch darkness- under the faintest light possible you might be able to catch a bit of their friskiness; moonlights don't count, still too much. sucks because they are SO personable if you have night vision equipment XD
i have all 6 of mine [now 6 because my clawed frog ate one a few months ago...] in a 55gal, and because they tend to require such little space i think you could have a decently sized little shoal of them in a 29 high : D they will appreciate more buddies and as many plants as possible.
dojos do best in at least pairs. the swordtails should be fine, mollies in general are placid~

thanks mother monster for the very detailed reply. i really appreciate it
i emptied my 10 gallon and out those fish in the 29g and bought 7 swordtails (2 male, 5 females)
my current stock is:
7 swordtails, 6 otos, 3 pygmy cories, 2 pearl gouramis, i guppy, i kuhli loach, 1 bushynose pleco, 1 blue ram, and my last glowlght tetra
it seems overstocked, but the tank is still very empty and most fish are full grown already
would i still be able to add the dojos/ glass catfish?

Yu really should get a weather loach, i got mine to feed from the top of the tank in just 2 days :D and it's awesome if you overfeed the tanka little cause its like a henry hoover :P

haha i used to have a couple of dojos when i first started keeping fish and they were very personable. you guys are making it very tempting to pick up some more lol
