Slow overflow

Check-valve. Install a check-valve to the return and adjust until the inflow and return are equal

?????Not following your use of a check valve????????

Couldn`t get much out of your pictures, other than a bit of motion sickness.

Agree on the motion sickness. I think maybe they mean Ball Valve, however if your are having to restrict your return so the overflow can keep up your only asking for trouble.

overflow is incomplete get a new one with a box on the back of tank too not just a hose used as a siphon

It wouldnt fit on the back. And when I did it with the whole entire overflow box unit it was slow even if I added more u tubes.

@everyone
The ball valve works and no nose. Question you guys know how I put 6 scotch pads in the drip plate, is that okay? If not what would you guys put?

scoth pads could contain traces of chemicals

use filter pads the fine white ones from the LFS

But I was looking at the thread " How does your sump look" and I saw alot of people using it. Is it really not that good?

Also I was wondering those nitra zorb, ammonia chips, and active carbon, can I place them next to my return or do I place it in the drip plate?

Hi all well I just got my sump yesterday from Hawiilipino and its all good. But after I set it up the pump seems to be faster than the overflow. I used the u tube and it was slow so I added another one and it still was slow. So I was wondering is I can use the front part of the overflow box ( the part in which is in the tank that takes in the water) and then use a utube attached with a tube directly to the sump to increase the flow?

And to aviod it from flooding. If I set the front overflow part to where I want it to and then the water lvl goes lower than it then the water would stop

Could you please clarify something?

Are you saying, that when you originally set it up, the sump would empty, and not settle at a consistent water level that was aboube the pump inlet?

If so then something is restricting the flow, and it could be a number of things. The media could be blocked, or partially blocked, the tube bores might be too small, there could be something obstructing the sump between it's chambers, there could be something stuck in the outflow pipe .... etc.

Try removing all the media from the filter, clear out the pipes and see then it you achieve balanced flow. Check that the pump is not simply too powerful too. If you get it to work, then carefully add back the media.

If all that has been tried, and still insufficient flow, then you need a larger overflow box, although they generally will cope with most sumps.

Edit: Check that the positioning of the internal part of the overflow is correct with respect to the tank water level.

Ya I got it fixed now. That ball valuve solved it. But for media what would you guys use? Like is it okay for me to use scotch pads in the drip plate and ontop of the bio balls? Also, you guys know how I the water goes under the divider to the return pump, can I place two media bags filled with ammo carbs to help with the filtration and also can I place those bags next to the return pump along with biomax next to it?

Is this okay?(scotch)

Is this okay as well? The layers go scotch, bioball, sctoch, and 2 marine land 3 filters for hob filters.

botom right is ammo carbs and in the durag is active carbon, and the left is 2 12 by 3 media bag filled with ammo carbs

This pic I think explains itself I think. From left to right it goes bio max by fluva,my pump and then the 2 media bags

If those "Scotch" pads you have in the sump have sponges on them, you're going to have problems. What is the exact product that you are using?
