I was just wondering what the slowest growing arowana is, and whats the tank sized needed for it. Why i ask is because i've never had one before, but i want one, and want to start with a smaller one (if there is such a thing)

jardini arowana i think smallest tank is a 5x2x2 tank but a 180 is much better 6x2x2 in think all arowana grow fast

Are you sure? I've heard small afro's grow faster than silvers when raised properly...

There is no such thing as a small or slow growing arowana, apart from one that is not cared for properly. Don't even consider buying one unless you already have a 180g up and running and the potential to upgrade to something larger in a couple of years..

the slowest growing and also hardest to raise species is the african aro which is still going to get to about 3ft+.

no way african aros grow just as fast as silvers, maybe a bit faster. ime, jardinis gro pretty slow.

the shortest aro I have heard is the red king, they usually get around 18 inches! but they are illegal in the U.S!

jardinis are like watching your hair grow. they grow slow ime/imo and also i believe i read you can house them a long time in a 180.

i think blacks are super slow growers

I have a black which shows otherwise. It grew well over an inch per month up to 25-26" in about 19 months.
