Slowest Growing Arowana and Tank size needed?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
i would try to find one a little larger, because when they are really small they grow really slow and kinda boring. i've had a few smaller ones, also try to get the biggest tank you can. this goes for jardinis in particular. now i've had some silvers real small and they got big quick.

Jars do grow at a slower rate than silvers, in my experience. I have no experience with african aros or lei's so I'm not much help there. If tank size is an issue I'd go with a jar but be prepared to have him housed by himself. Most jars turn psycho at a certain size and kill everything in the tank.. This isn't always the case but it can happen.

my 2 cents,
---Chris

It has only been in the 450g for 11 months and since it was 16". It grew from 2.5" to 16" in the first 12 months while spending time in 55g, 75g and 120g aquariums.
