i just put i plastic wrap over the top and so the water goes down the plastic and does not splash the water
when you try to reduce flow in penguin filters it usually causes the bio-wheel to stop spinning, and that would be a bad thing. depending on stock, you might even be underfiltered. i run a penguin200 on my 10g, and when i had my 40g running it had an ac110 and a penguin 200 on it, but i tend to overfilter.
