i want to slow down my pump on my wet/dry a little because i think its a little to fast for my over flows. whats the best way to go about doing this. i know adding a ball valve is good but there do i add it. like should i put it on the intake side of the pump or on the out side. or should i T off the out and then put the valve on the T? whats the best way?

you should not restrict the outflow of a pump as it can do long term damage. Sorry I don't have a picture so try to stay with me..

Put a T conector in your sump on the output of your pump
Place the ball valve on the new output and empty back into the sump
adjust the recirc on the ball valve until the overflow is where you want it

I think that is what your last option was describing?

Actually it wont hurt a centrifugal pump to just use a ball valve, but I usually use a tee with a valve to recirculate water over the media.

it will actually cool a centrifugal pump down in temp if you choke the output and it will last longer

never choke the input

or use a tee with a valve to recirculate water over the media

:confused::confused: just the opposite is true for centrifugal pumps

they does less work....draw less current and run cooler :)

A ball valve should be fine. They are designed to pump water several feet up, so making it a bit more difficult shouldn't be a problem, right?
