Just looked at your first post. You said your nitrate is 0...did you test your nitrite? It is impossible to have a nitrate of 0 so maybe you had a high nitrite build up without any bacteria to break it down to nitrate?

yeah - i was in a rush to check the parameters because the poor guy was doing so poorly and didn't wait the 5 minutes the test kit required for the nitrates. after posting i went back to the kitchen and saw the color changed ever so slightly to 5ppm or so. i did not check nitrites at the time.

i've had the tank set up for almost a year now and have been cleaning the 2 FX5's monthly (with aquarium water) and alternating which one gets cleaned each time

what's that white thing? it's attached to the heart and was filled with blood. artery i assume.

good news - traveled 3 hours round trip to pick up 2 - 8" silvers.. store says they are already on aro sticks :headbang2
I have seen many many entrails, and there is always that bulbous white vessel that leads to the gills...I think, not sure, but that is the equivalent of the Aorta. It does look to be enlarged...did you have a look in the heart itself?
Oh, and nice pickup on the Aros...2 might be a little competitive 3 would be better...
