looking for an algae eater that wont get to big. i have a 29 gallon community tank with 6 guppies,2 rams,1 dwarf gourami,1 male betta and 5 cory cats . i have 2 pieces of driftwood with lots of java fern on it. ican get the algae off of the front and side glass with a magfloat but the back and the driftwood are harder to clean, any ideas?

Howdy,

You have many choices. Here are a few:
  • Otocinclus: smallest, sometimes sensitive to water parameters
  • Ancistrus dolichopterus: The very best. Hardy, bizarre, 4''
  • Peckolita: Beautiful, but many love to snack on Echinodorus
  • Garra: Hardiest, looks similar to Chinese algae eater. Most active of them all. Many only grow to 3-4''

I would go with an otocinlus or a dwarf bristlenose.

i say Ancistrus dolichopterus (Bristlenosed pleco). oto's are pretty small unless you got a few of them

these plecos are gorgeous, i beleive they go over 6 inches, anyway they'll run ya 50 bucks

You could get a gold nugget pleco. They max out at 6 inches.

these guys push a minimum of 12 inches, anyway they are gorgeous, so pretty, they'll run ya up to 50 bucks.
