thanks, I might try converting the crabs :)

I dont want to make a larger brackish tank, because i want to put this 5 gallon to use. :)

how long did it take you to convert the crabs?

Well....First you have to have your tank set to a specific salinity (I would do a 1.016)....then when you go the LFS, find out what the salinity is in the tanks with the crabs....When you get them home, put them into a container WITH the water they are in....Then have a drip line set up from your tank to the container....make sure its drip is like 1 per second.....Then let them sit in there for about 2 hours....you should then use your hydrometer to see where they are at....you want them to get to where your tank is at....Once it is complete, you can put them into your tank! I also like to throw shrimp pellets and algae wafers in there for them, especially if there is none growing yet.....

P.S.
I also use KENT MARINE: ESSENTIAL ELEMENTS for the health of the crabs...It adds the minerals back into the tank that are taken out from the filters, and the water changes.....ALSO.....make sure you use a good sea salt....I use OCEANIC NATURAL SEA SALT....Its very fine and it disolves quick....you want to mix the salt in a container and add it that way, do not just dump it into the tank...

Ok...DONE!!!

thanks alot everyone.

jenBLKAROWANA, that doesnt sound as hard as i imagined! Im gonna go to the lfs as soon as i can. :D :D:D:D

do you think i could keep bumble bee gobies with the crabs? like 1 maybe? or would the crab make a meal of it?

i wouldnt mix the two, crabs would deffinitly make a meal of them, i would say go with a bumblebee goby, a small hafebeak and maybe a pair of platys (or other live bearer of your choice)

dude, it's a 5g tank not a 15g. just go with a couple hermit crabs and a pair of guppies(or endlers) or a pair of bumblebee gobies. you don't want to overload the tank.

Halfbeaks will outgrow a 5g. Stick with either 1 crab or 2-3 BBGs.
Pea puffers are strictly FW & require 3-5g ea.

Clown loaches are not BW. They come from soft water, which is the opposite of BW. There are no BW puffers that will fit in that tank.

I don't understand why you are waisting your $$$ on this product. It is for replacing essencial elements that a skimmer removes. BW does not need this. I use the cheapest salt I can find for BW.
