I dont want to make a larger brackish tank, because i want to put this 5 gallon to use.
how long did it take you to convert the crabs?
Well....First you have to have your tank set to a specific salinity (I would do a 1.016)....then when you go the LFS, find out what the salinity is in the tanks with the crabs....When you get them home, put them into a container WITH the water they are in....Then have a drip line set up from your tank to the container....make sure its drip is like 1 per second.....Then let them sit in there for about 2 hours....you should then use your hydrometer to see where they are at....you want them to get to where your tank is at....Once it is complete, you can put them into your tank! I also like to throw shrimp pellets and algae wafers in there for them, especially if there is none growing yet.....

P.S.
I also use KENT MARINE: ESSENTIAL ELEMENTS for the health of the crabs...It adds the minerals back into the tank that are taken out from the filters, and the water changes.....ALSO.....make sure you use a good sea salt....I use OCEANIC NATURAL SEA SALT....Its very fine and it disolves quick....you want to mix the salt in a container and add it that way, do not just dump it into the tank...
Ok...DONE!!!
