The fry has to be removed from the cons after a couple of weeks or they will eat the babies when they're ready to spawn again.
If you just want the experience of breeding cichlids, then I say cons are a great start. Just not a good choice for feeders.

tbh the mollies wont eat the fry straight away. ive had mine survive weeks in my tank and ive got golden wonder panchax, blue acara, firemouth, and several other prefatory fish. they all go for the fry but if you have enough hiding spots then they'll survive long enough for you to get them out

Oscars are in a 125. All still pretty small at this point. Once i notice a pair the rest will be sold or go to my lfs.
