Small Cichlid With Most Personality?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Keep your Texas! My Carpintis is around 3 inches and has always been picked on and she just went nuts one day and has been quite the bully. She is also getting some trailers on her fins!!!

Male convict... Won't get too big, will hold his own, and they are fun. Just don't get two or they will fight or breed lol.

Im not sure if this is with just me but I've noticed that the fish in my tanks that are on the ground are much more shy and hide more often than those at eye level. I thought maybe they see me as an ariel predator so they hide. The fish that are in tanks at eye level are not shy at all. I put a bunch of hiding spots in for them and they never go in.

If you have had the Texas for a year and it has been shy the entire time it just may be its personality? If it was me I would trade in the Texas and get a fresh start and you could get another Texas if you love the look and you should end up with a more outgoing personality or get something different. If you aren't going to upgrade tanks I would get a male marble convict because it will fill out the 55 gallon eventually and it may grow a koch and resemble a midas. You could keep the silver dollars as dithers! Good luck!
