Hi all, sick of messing with tank ideas so i have got on with it, plan was for a 450G tank but i was to worried on the suspend concrete floor not holding the 2500kg, so, as i have wanted a lizard for some time, mainly an Iguana but the space i have isnt enough for one so i have gone for a water dragon, probably a Chinese.

Now the room i have is 9` l x 34 " deep and 6` h so it is going to house the CWD and a tank of 54" x 34" x 28" with a water level of 24", filter will be a sump and inline heaters, return will be 8-10 x TO rate.

Stock will be around six Archers of the FW variety, Toxotes blythii, this way its fine for the CWD to swin in and drink.

I did the wood work yesterday and its just drying now, i glued and screwed it all up a good waterproof glue and 40mm screws at 2 inch spacing. 3/4 inch ply with 2 1/4 inch x 3/4 timber frame, there is no front frame as it will be rimless with 16mm float glass.

Next step this wekk is to fillet the corners and i hope to get to the GRP supplies ( before they shut for Xmas ) for another 10kg of poly resin as i dont have enough left from my boat project. I have plenty of 600grm combination mat for lining it and surface tissue so that good. I havnt decided but ontop of the GRP i will either give a coat of G4 pond seal or just leave as is, final coat colour does not matter as it will have a DIY rock effect backing, same as the rest of the Viquarium with ledges and boulders dotted around and a water fall from the tank to a small pool returning to the sump.

If anybody has any suggestions i welcome openly ;)

All best

Wayne

nice build! ill be waiting for updates!

Do cwd mess in the water, I had a monitor that would only go in the water, just seems like if It does as it grows the water will be rotten... Just a thought?
Good work BTW, subbed.

i think if given the opportunity they will even if not frequently.
ive many different species of lizards, monitors and even snakes
that went in water in the tank or in the tub while getting a bath.

If they do it will have a good large filtration setup and not a large fish stock so the ammonmia etc will get filtered plenty as with the WC of 25% a week..

i would up the wc to 50% a week
