Hi All,

I have been running a 90 Gal tank with O, JD, Con, SDs successfully for 3 years.

Now I want another tank but unfortunately the office does not have the space for a tank greater than a standard 55. What i would like to do is setup a 39-55 gallon tank and fill it with smaller fish and perhaps even plants. I love my cichlids and would love to have one or perhaps a non-aggressive pair of cichlids (looking for beauty here) as the focal point of the tank.

my question is what species of cichlid could I perhaps house with cardinal tetras, small colony of corys and plants?

Any suggestions?

Any dwarfs like apistos, dwarf pikes, angles, and some geos if you are looking for non-aggressive.

There are so many dwarf that are great. Smiling acara, dwarf flag cichlid, bolviana ram, Blue rams, Cupid cichlid, Festivum, keyhole, Checkerboard cichlid, and all types of Apistogramma.

Australoheros sp Red Ceibal. I pair would do great in the size tank you are looking at. You could even add a school of tetras. Another bonus is that these cichlids dont even need a heater. Breeding colors are gorgeous, you wont be disappointed ;)

blue acara's are lovely to look at and fairly placid compared to most cichlids, make sure they are defo b/acara and NOT green terrors as the two species are often mistaken... bio cupido is another nice cichlid... majority of the thoricthys genus i've encountered have been very well behaved

Angelfish are common but they do have a nice shape and a very deliberate way about them. Very nice choice for a peaceful community in a 55g.
