Small piranha species

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Thanks guys, Im just waiting to get a quote from aquascape to ship a sanchezi. I'm planning on doing by weekly 30% water changes and I'll have it hooked up to the central filtration system in my fish room. Thanks again.

Sounds rad! You should also make it a planted tank since a solo fish isn't always the most exciting! Keeping med/high light plants will occupy you and of course provide a beautiful more natural habitat for you P!

Also buy the smallest size they have so it will grow slow and in ideal conditions!

purple and regular sanchezi are the same species, of vendor notice some purple hue on the fish they call it purple sanchezi and sell for more money but technically speaking they are all the same.

Spot on.

I bought a Red Sanchezi from aquascape, and after a year turned out to have a red throat and purple speckles.

A lot of piranhas will tear up ur plants so it's hit or miss

When I had my red belly shoal, they would only take nibbles out of my anubias if i missed a few days of feeding. I think he would be fine if he sticks to a feeding schedule.

Same with my Sanchezi now

Sounds good
im a little annoyed, they haven't answered yet. I'll probably end up buying one from somewhere else
Im so happy they do fine with plants. I love the look of planted tanks and almost every tank in my fish room has some kind of plant.

yeah, Just think of where they come from*

The amazon river, for example, is filled with vegetation. They need/prefer to have hiding spots, and what a better way to do so than adding live plants and trying to mimic their natural environment.

Does that mean that you won't have little nibbles here and there out of your plants...no, Idk...but for the most part your plants will do just fine. Piranhas are not like cichlids that actually go and uproot the vegetation.

I've had rhoms completely tear apart plants to where you could barely even see the steams of amazon swords..... This too with a good feeding schedule..... It depends on the personality of the piranha
