Hello,

I prefer the looks of plywood tanks to all glass tanks. Lets get to the point.

I am looking at building one but only maybe 12"x12"x12" just for a few neons (I know not monster fish, but it gets me used to the build etc...

What would be the best way to do this, ive been though near enough every build thread but most of them ar different and im just getting confused.

Thanks Aaron.

Thats for that link. Really helpful.

Its my first build just so i know what i am doing, so i dont really want to be spending to much money but i might make it some what bigger.

as i started to read this i thought about the handy panles most lumber places sells, 2'x4' varius thiknesses and wood types. precut, all you would have to do is trim a little off the edges. Predrill holes for screws and then woodglue and screw it together. get the right pice of glass to fit inside the front behind the wood. take a plunge router and cut a 2" boarder in the front pice of wood. then take your fravorite glass to wood sealer and seal your glass to the wood. let it cure. tape off the glass then take your choice of water proffing and seal up the wood.

That is a good idea redman, but many of those handy pannels are the same price as getting the full sheet or at least close. Your going to need more then one though to do a box the way your talking. Most of the bigger stores will cut your plywood on the spot if you ask. I generally get a full sheet for that reason, regardless of the project. Something to keep in mind.

I am taking a trip to BnQ today to price up some plywood. Ill also have a look at the pannels and see which would work out best.

i would love to build like a 30-50 gal plywood tank in the near future. if you do build your tank please post pictures of the build
