Small plywood build

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
That small I would just use glass to seal it up. thin glass would most likely be cheaper than epoxy or other products. On the solid wood sides you could use 1/8" glass and 1'4" for the viewing window.

Just my $.02

Do a 4x2x2 w/one sheet of plywood, or two small tanks if that's what you really want. Good luck w/the upcoming project:)

any progress?

Just for reference:) I did a 180 (72x24x24) with two sheets of cabinet grade oak, had enough lumber left over from the cut outs to build a small sump as well. You could use a lesser grade ply and save about $30. I upgraded to 1/2" glass instead of the recommended 3/8". I used sweetwater epoxy and picked up the glass from Glasscages.com. Total build cost $260. I did this size so I could mix the whole can of Sweetwater and not waste any.

I only post this because I started with the same intentions as you, a small first tank so I knew what I was building when I built a larger one. But found the cost difference was nearly the same until you have to buy two cans of epoxy, and multiple sheets of plywood. So why not get the most out of a can!....I agree with the post above also, maybe be multiple small tanks too.
