is their any kind of small predatory fish that could live in a 29gallon, like possible an african knife? if not i was gonna use it (and a 10gallon) to raise feeders.

Leaffish, pikeheads, ropefish, African butterflys, dwarf pike cichlids, african knife, ctenopoma to name a few...
 
all those are great african knife fish get a little big for that tank they can get 12'' but are rarelly seen over 8''

You forgot about redtail catfish!

GSPs are cool if you dont mind brackish or else maybe a single small species of piranha. (Atleast for awhile)
 
Get a mudskipper ( if you dont mind brakish ) they are really active and attentive and smart they are brakish water fish dont let lfs fool and tell you they have theirs in freshwater.

Maybe a breeding pair of convicts.

I thought ropes need a 55gallon minimum? Same with African Knife?
