First off -I realize this is an older thread.

Never buy a nurse shark. I don't know of a single private hobbiest with a tank big enough for one.

I have agree - there.

Generally Nurse Sharks are one of the most ill-suited sharks for most private home aquaria. Since they get truely monsterous in size (at least 8-10 ft, and 200-300lbs).

Nurses usually do quite well in Public Aquariums, even in smaller Public Aquariums of only 200,000 gallons. BTW - the vast majority of Public Aquariums will not accept a Nurse Shark from a private keeper.

The only way I could see - a private keeper might be able to keep a adult Nurse Shark is - IF they have the room & financial resources to build a tank of at least 100,000 gallons to keep it in. Even a good sized in-ground swimming pool of nearly 40,000 gallons is too small.

Want a cool looking shark - that resembles a nurse - get a bamboo. The Gray Bamboo, Arabian Bamboo, and Brown banded Bamboo all resemble juvi Nurses.
