I currently have a 75 gallon with the demisions of 48 x 18 x 21 if that helps too...

What could i get that could last at least a year and a half in a 75? Then what size would i need?

You could keep a pair or trio of the pickerel I mentioned in a 75 for their whole lives.

What would your plans be after a year and a half? A Florida/Spotted gar may not outgrow a 75 gallon in that time...

i agree with dem...
there is a 80% chance that it wouldnt outgrow the 75 in a year in a half....
but then again u cant ever predict a fish

the pike characin is also "gar" shaped predator that gets 14-16", looks better than the needle nose imo.

I want a 150 gallon in about a year in a half.. but im decideing to not get a gar. I cant put the fish i like with a gar.. unless i want to watch a massacre.. they are super cool but get to big and cant eat all my fish..

Unless i get 2 150's.. hmmmmmm...
