Small tankmates with rays?

I had 8 lemon tetras with my rays in a 550g pond, they are now in a 1200g, 3 of them I dont think that is bad, imo thats not very predatory. I have 9 rays, and feed every variet, somethimes every second day.

I ended up throwing in 3 small blue rams to see if the rays would pay any attention to them. One disappeared within an hour but the other 2 have been in there for about a week now.

I would try but my 3 arowana would never allow me to keep smaller fish in the tank.

Skynoch, please post up a recent pic of the big ray as I think many people starting out still think they stay below 12 inches. I would love to see it anyway.

I lost 3 1 1/2" baby dats to my 12" motoro in my 220 .
The ray is well fed. I've since moved the rest our and the two 8" red tailed tats tetras are doing fine

Has anyone had any luck keeping small tankmates with larger rays? One of my females is an active hunter and will take out medium size fish but I'm wondering if she might ignore smaller fish. Anyone have any experience with this?

You have answered your own ? She will take out med size fish so why would small fish be any different

A long time ago I put 100 tiger barbs and 100 neons at night they use to come down to the bottom and my ray would pounce and take out 10-20 of the shoal in one go

Rays don't always kill for food they kill for fun

I have a quad of guianicara in my tank and preparing for a possible ray soon
