I wan to get a turtle but I would like it to max out in a 40g breeder. I like musk turtles and was wondering what are other good, small turtles. Also how much would the turtle cost? Thanks for any info

i like map turtles they stay small..i have one and it has lots of personality...mines a common map and check the turtle shack on price

LOL stay away from Turtle Shack, that is the worst place you can ever buy an Turtle unless you like yours dead.

Musk and Mud Turtles would work great in a 40 gallon. Cost will depend on the size of the turtle and the species. Stinkpot Musks are usually the cheapest.

Really 1, you may be able to do 1 male and 1 female, or two females, but it could be tight. The problem is, with females you NEED a land area for egg laying, so you are cutting down on water area drastically, and musk turtles are HIGHLY aquatic. Even if the eggs are fertilzed the female still needs to lay them, or she can go into toxic shock and die

I think you would be best off with just 1 male.

And two males would absolutely not work
