So I have some growout sajica fry in a 55 gallon along with sailfin molly all doing fine and growing very well. I plan to have 1 sajica pair out of the 6 fry. For my 75 I want a pair of sajica and something else that won't completely own the tank. What cichlid species would you reccomend? Obviously I am looking for something that won't grow beyond 6in for the most part and is from Central America.

I have found some Thorichthys aureus online that I am trying to get but that mihgt not happen. Any other suggestions?

maybe some Gymnogeophagus, though they are SA.
Nanoluteus are pretty peaceful though they are closely related to the Sajica, both in the Convict group.
Honduran Red Points also.

Thoricthys is also a great choice.

Convicts will be too aggressive. Do you think sajica will hybridize with HRP or nonoloteus? I would just keep a pair of each species.

Convicts and HRP are closely related to sajica so you may get some con-specific aggression, plus since they have similar bodies the tank may lack in variety. Personally I like the rainbow idea or a crecichla regani, though your molly may not last.

Regani are SA plus I think my ph is a bit too high for SA cichlids. Rainbow cichlids might be good idea.

I have thought about shell dwellers for a different tank though. They are from lake tanganyika. Tough little sucker too. Would a pair of Thoricthys cause any problems?
