Smaller cichlid pair for a 75?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Missed the ca part, if you have the gold sajicas an ebjd would look nice and females don't get much bigger than 6". If you have red/blue sajicas nics would work great even though they're bigger than 6". If size is a sticking point I'd do rainbows.

I like your thinking. Nics sound awesome. Had them before but would be more than willing to get them again. Plus, I am pretty sure rapps has some for sale. They are fairly non aggressive too. I wouldn't mind doing a tank with just them. EBJD are an awesome option too. Now to descide between the two... hmm...

Breeding Sajicas would probably kill a EBJD in a 75. Lake Tanganyika fish almost always get too aggressive when they start growing. Thats just asking for trouble when you have a breeding pair. Anything in the tank could get a good bit of abuse from te sajicas. Id suggest just them and some dithers. maybee giant danio or raspora or barbs.

Something must have gotten misunderstood. I am not planning to add lake tanganyikan fish to this tank. I said that I was thinking of setting up another tank for them. I like to stick to a mostly biotope tank. So my plan was to have 2 pairs breeding in a 75 but the tank seems to be too small for that I guese. So I might just get a pir of nics for the 75 and use the sajicas as kind of dithers or just keep a pair of sajicas in the 55.

Ohh i thought you asked if tanganyikan fish would be ok in there.
Im in the same boat you are now. Trying to think what to do with my tanks once my breeding cyanos take over my 90gal. I will leave the JD in there and see how he does. then in my 55gal 1 pink fenestratus and small pleco and neon tetra and some pink glofish. cant wait!:headbang2

Are sajica really that aggressive as a pair? I have seen them breed in a community tank and i have never seen them inflict any damage but IDK. It's irritating trying to find exactly what I want for this tank. I have really takin a liking to Thorichthys aureus and ellioti so i wanted to add a pair to the tank.
