Smaller class of cichlids?

With these tankmates your best best is still either cons of FMs. Unless you want something a bit unusual... If so, look into honduran red points -- they are very similar to convicts but are actually blue. Oh, and here is another one for you: rainbow cichlid!
 
How about a female salvini. I think they stay under 6 inches and can certainly hold their own against aggressive cichlids.

Yes they are but not for the tankmates he plans on keeping them with. For these they would be lunch :grinno:
 
So you want aggressiveness or you want looks? or do you want the fish with the best of both worlds??? if you want both,, ya salvini..
 
I'm very interested in salvinis.. they have some small ones at the LFS.. but I don't think theirs a single person working there who would know male from female and I definetly can't have a male.. Any suggestions?
