How bout in a really big tank? The National Zoos FW ray pond had at least 15 rays and 2 aros in it but was chock full of small fish (all amazonian, no feeders), including discus. I'd estimate it around 2-3000 gallons but yeah...
Discus arent that small, but they have been known to work with both aros and rays. Unless you've got a tank that big, I would still think the aro and ray would just eat it.
I've got some tetras in with my rays. They seem to be ok, although one will disappear from time to time. It usually happens soon after I added the tetras. I think they smarten up quickly.

i have seen serpea tetra's ,but i am sure they would disappear slowly at least it would be a cheap replacement unlike a discuss witch i know my rays would be happy to eat. i had to remove some 3" geo's in with a 5" marble and she has already eaten two. big tank small fast cheap fish if you want to give it a try.
