Smaller Kelberi not eating

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
yup......eventually they will come up and eat it off the spoon...give it time. The spoon is so you only drop in little amounts at a time so you can see that they are getting the pellets. You just keeping adding more pellets to the mix every 3-4 days or so. Eventually its pellets only.

update on this, the smaller kelberi is now coming up to the surface to feed. He still wont accept pellets outright, i have to smash them in with the bloodworms and even then he only eats a bit of mashed up pellet. When the worm/pellet mix starts dispersing he then only eats the worms and doesnt touch the pellet part. I'm getting kinda frustrated with this because the smaller ocells are as big as it now and if it doesnt start eating soon its going to get left in the dust. The larger kelberi is still eating like a pig, he's awesome.

Glad to hear he's starting to eat better for you bro. Just be patient, he will come around. Oh, and we need pics of them in their new home :D

have you tried cutting up shrimp? i cut pieces of shrimp and throw it in the outflow of one of my filters and it makes the shrimp wiggle like it's a live. my little kelberi will eat his weight in shrimp....

ive tried shrimp, it sinks to the bottom and nobody eats it haha. My mono in my 240 only eats shrimp and when i tried converting him to pellets he would bite my finger anytime i stuck my hand in lol.

ill have pics up tomorrow maybe, kinda tired from my 10 hour shift at work + 4 hours of college classes.

Just keep at it w/ the blood worms and pellet mix. Add some brine shrimp to the mix as well to have something a little extra in there. Keep feeding em that way....a little at a time so too much doesnt float around the tank....you want him to get that taste for pellets. If possible I would try to feed him 3-5x a day. Keep at and dont give up.....he'll get there.

Good luck, its a little scary when they stop eating at that size........

It officially started eating pellets today! Its been eating the pellet/bloodworm mix for a while and trying pellets but not liking its texture since last week. I started adding whole dry pellets to the mix and i guess it got used to the texture. Thanks guys for all the help!
