Hello i was looking into getting an arowana i was wondering what the smallest arowana is? Also i have hear and seen on line of ppl keep full grow angles and discus with arowanas is this true thanks. any info will help.

It really doesn't matter on the size of any arowana, because there's pro's/con's to both sides.. even with the smaller arowanas(Australian, Asian), they're not as flexible as the bigger ones(Silvers/Blacks).. so, you would need the same minimum size tank for either of the 2.

And most people recommend a 180 gal minimum for a full grown aro... and Silvers/blacks are probably the least likely to attack tankmates.. but Jardini's are said to be very aggressive, although it varies from fish to fish.. most keepers say anywhere between 8" on up, they can get pretty nasty.

Well "arowana" and "smallest" really don't belong in the same sentence. The only aros available for you to own are blacks, silvers and the two austrailian aros. All the prementioned require very large tanks. Blacks and silvers can be housed with many different tankmates, were as the austrialians are more of a individule fish. I myself have a black aro and discus together. You can see my fish by clicking the link in my signature below.

Your tank is abslutley amazing im dead serious that is like shed aquarium. How much did you pay for you black my LFS said it would cost me a ton and do u think a silver would go.

Thank you.

My Black aro cost me $200 cash plus $50 in fish trade, though they are rarely seen for sale here in Colorado(I've seen 5 total in the last year).

Most all the discus are 4-5" and 1.5 - 2 years old. I would only recommend using very bold, outgoing adult discus for this mix.

I've only had this mix going for 2 months now, the black aro is about 14". I also have a couple silver aros, I wouldn't try this with them however. I don't believe this will work once the arowana is bigger, one quick bite and it could destroy a discus. For now though it makes for a lovely setup.

bderick67 can you have a silver arowana in a 150 gallon that is 48"x24"x30" it's only 2 feet wide that is my worry. And I have a fire eel and zig zag eel and 2 knife fish. Please help

A 150 is too small for a silver or any aro , the smallest aro's are jars or lei's (Australian) they Max out at an average 2ft biggest I've seen in person was pushing 30" , min tank size is 180 IMO but 30" wide is much better for turning so if that option is there when you buy a tank go 6x2x30 wide. Obviously if you can go bigger go bigger :D
As for your tankmates jardini will more than likely smash the knife fish straight away and the eels could be in trouble further down the line dependant on the aro you end up with , so if you want a less aggressive aro with possible tankmates get a lei it'll cost you a bit more but you'll save that in dead tankmate money lol.
Or if your like me and don't mind and aro taking over your tank get a jardini , you won't be disappointed they make awesome wetpets especially if you get a fearless one ;)

Okay thank you. I only needed a aro because I have too many commons goldfish and I know aros would take care of that. Do you know another fish that can fit in my 150 and not harm my other fish?

How about using a net instead of buying a fish to eat another fish. Fish can't be told " only eat the low quality ones" they'll eat any fish near if they're hungry.
