Smallest Frontosa

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
If you kept them with anything it would suggest synodontis species they do fine with fronts or at least mine do fine. Anywho any front can get 12+ inches doesnt matter what species it is they all get big. I wouldnt keep them in anything less then a 125gal and really I would do 150+ as they have wider room to turn and you can keep more.

The frontosa from Mbita island is the smallest, but also the meanest, Toby won't bring them in, they don't look all that special otherwise.

Frontosa are harem spawners, they prefer to be in a group. Also they are still cichlids, and thus can be a bit mean to each other.
Some are more passive, so you MAY get away with a pair, but this is rare. Usually you will need at least a trio or quad.

Tropheus are too hyper to keep with them. Frontosa are calm fish, they get nervous and shy with hyper fish around them.
Also, tropheus will be pigs and get all the food, which would be a big problem for the tropheus if you feed them a highly meat based diet.
