dats are expensive beacause the grow incredibly slow, and as the experts say, all are wild caught. if you want other predators, i recommend a wolf fish, but most probably kept singly. or if you're lucky, in a species tank.

seriously, 3 ft florida raise in captivity?
and suggesting a wolf fish with a gar?

1 no wolf fish with ur gar.
2 floridas will NOT reach 3 feet if u raise it from yoy in captivity.
3 florida gar will most likly not out grow ur tank(max size is approx 24" but most never reach that size)
4 spotted are similar to florida but almost impossible to find.
5 u can get a florida for ur tank. they are some of the smallest gar(spotted same size). there are smaller gar(shortnose gar) but they are highly only suggested for advanced keepers. they are highly suicidal. in fact one of our resident gar experts(he is banned now
) had a shortnose gar break its back in a tank with 2 inches of foam around its tank. so yeah they are a no no for beginner gar keepers despite the fact that they max out around 20"

Florida Gars hardly ever get past 2 feet in length in captivity. I have one who is 8-9 years old and he's under 20".
