smallest poly ??...

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I love my polys. Got a female ornate that is nearing 18-20 inches... just massive. I will caution that Poly species is quite addicting, but this is monster fish keepers for a reason and polys can become quite monstrous in size. Fairly bullet proof fish, make sure your lid is secure. A 20 gallon would be fine for 6 months or so I would imagine, but unlike other species of poly, the Senegal is a bit more active. It would be an injustice to keep him in a small tank forever. If I could recommend another fairly small poly species is the rope fish, they get a little longer than senegals but the cool thing about them is they are very social with their own kind. Drop a worm in with a group of ropefish and watch the death roll feeding frenzie. Very cool fish.

when I upgrade my tank I plan on converting my 100 gallon to a rope only tank with probably 25 in there because of how entertaining they are, maybe a rope/sengalus tank

Get a sen it will be fine in the 20 for a few months. When petco has its dollar per gallon sale go snatch up a 30 or 40 gal

A rope could chill in a 20L for a while before needing a bigger tank too. Be warned though if regular polys are Pokémon or pringles then Ropes are flat out cocaine

Senegals are far too busy for a small tank. At 6" mine use up all of my 70 gallon...

Get a 55+ and be done with it, I wouldn't skimp with these guys :)
