I'm very interested in wolf fishes.. And want to keep a few. I read online that "Hoplerythrinus unitaeniatus(gold wolf fish)" is the smallest species that grows to maximum 20cm / 8 inches, however different sites online state that they grow bigger, around 40cm. Twice that length.. My tank dimensions are 6 feet X 1 feet X 1 feet.. Weird dimensions. I know.. If that species grows to that size, or not, how many can I keep in that tank?

Gold wolf fish get larger then what ur tank can hold. Red wolf fish are what you want. Some people have had luck putting multiple wolves together however some are very aggressive. its completly up to you what you want to try. Put lots of hiding spots in if you are getting more then 1.

+1 red wolfs is what your after I think its wolfish season aswell my local fish store just got a large shipment of black and red wolves

How big do they get? And what other tank mates can they tolerate?? Or just solo, cause I don't mind keeping them as solo.. But need to sell off all my current stock to hold them

What the others said. The gold wolves are said to have the potential to grow twice as big as the red wolves. God wolves can be known to grow up to 16 inches. they won't be able to fit in a tank that has a 12 inch width.

the red wolves get around 8-12 inches. your dimensions aren't the best for a wolf. I would recommend a tank with at least a 18 inch width with these guys since they are so active.

These fish can tolerate larger mid to top swimming fish.

have u thought of maybe a dwarf species of snakehead ? might b a better option for u I don't kbow just an idea cause they are simmilar to the wolf fish

Well. I'm keeping Snakehead right now (stratia and bleheri in another tank) .. Just looking at wolf Cause they are really similar
Exact dimensions are 80 inches X 15 inches X 15 inches.. Cause my stratia will definitely outgrow that tank along with the clown knife.. I'm looking at ones that I can keep without worrying about it outgrowing the tank.. Getting bigger tanks is out of the option as my dad won't allow anymore tanks

If these are true dimensions then a red wolf could do in that tank for some time. I personally would go with a 40 breeder or 75 gallon to house one for life.
