Since tanksize does not dictate fish growth there is no reason to think that a clown knife that is well cared for wouldn't grow that size.

yes but i haven't seen clowns over 30'' in aquariums i've know them to grow at a normal rate then stop mabye because of water conditions or food but i've seen this in well cared for tanks to they just don't seem to grow that big in tanks also you would also have to consider age those clowns over 40'' must be pretty old fish in aquariums don't seem to live as long as wild ones.(but sertanly can)
