Hello, I have a few questions regarding SMB, how aggressive are they, possible tank mates (Green Terror, JD?), and what size tank you would recommend for a mature SMB. Any advice will be helpful.

SMB prefers cooler water (60s), so not a ideal to house with tropicals.

I've had mine for a couple of years now, where the tank is in the basement and the water typically doesn't exceed 70F during the summer months.

Okay so no tropical, could bluegill, or sunfish work? I know nothing about bass

Bluegill and sunfish aren't tropical either. At least the ones native to my area aren't.

Just wondering.... Why do you want to add a native type fish with your tropicals? Why not do a whole different tank?

I have no objection to a native tank, however I have no experience in fish keeping except for tropicals. Thus, it would be new to me, probably just as easy, I just havent done it.

I would post in the native/cold water forums bud, you'll get better answers.

Bluegill can work since they seem to prefer warmer water
