Caught a small lmb and had him for only 3 days so far and he already knows I'm the one that feeds him, when it's feeding time and where it gets fed from. He follows my finger around the tank an even eats from y hand already. Trying to pellet train it so far he will mouth them but spit them out. Should I not feed him love for a while?

If he bites them but spits them that means he recognizes it as food but doesn't like it. Give it time, he'll get hungry and eat it eventually. The hardest part of pellet training that fish is already over.

its great how they know right away, I can't say for my brook trout that it took 3 days, but after about 2 weeks when ever my hand goes toward the top of the tank he zips up there to see food. Any pictures of your bass?

A little late now, but a darker more natural substrate would have made him show more color. Beautiful Fish indeed, and will give many hours of enjoyment. Thanks for sharing the pic.

In my experience darker substrate makes about any fish show better colors, i think it feels more secure and relaxing for them, the light colors in the fish, come from stress of the lights bouncing off the white substrate. My Natives much prefer lots of cover, dark substrate, and only room lighting.

I've noticed the same thing with my natives. They seem so much smarter to me than other tropicals. I think that since their lives are so food oriented being wild, they really appreciate who gives them a regular meal.
