So i am currently housing a young giant snakehead, hes maybe about 7 months old and is about 10.5". I now keep him in a 90 gallon tank(from a 26), but my little brother decided to go out and buy an oscar fish and then a jaguar fish. So i now have a giant snakehead with 2 chiclids in a 90 gallon tank. The problem is i bought this 90 with the intention of housing just the channa. So what i want to know is what is the likely hood i will wake up one day and find one or eventually 2 dead chiclids in that tank? Iv warned my little brother many times about my fish but unfortunately pet shops cant resist a young kid flashing his birthday money at a store.

U prolly wont wake up to any dead fiah because the snakehead will jus eat em... As far as liklyhood im not too sure but if it does turn bad i know the snakehead wont jus let a body float round n not eat it

Was the 90 g intended as a grow out? I would be hesitant on housing anything with a micro, let alone in such tight quarters.

Well the oscar is maybe 7" and the Jag is about 5-6", as for the housing questions, the tank was literaly made for just the micro and a couple of giant peruvian snails cuz i did not want to risk a pleco, it sounds boring cuz its 1 fish but i dont have the room for a 200 gallon tank. So ya it was an impulse buy on my little brothers part. I just feel bad because the kid is gona see his fish gone one day, thers literaly nothing i can do besides wait at this point itl break his heart if i get rid of them and hell still be hurt if my fish eats them, so id kinda just rather have the blame put on the fish at this point lol

You need to understand that your tank is too TINY for a Micropeltes even 1 on its own.
even the 200gallon you "have no room for" isnt anywhere near enough.

Keeping that Micro is cruelty, pure and simple.
Pass it on to someone more responsible please before its too late!

I just hate LFS that sell Giant Snakehead without taking time to fully explain what you are buying. My LFS tried this on me a few times but i did my homework and found out what kind of snakehead they were trying to sell me. They Label it "Red Snakehead" not Micro or Giant.

I would follow Tokyogasmask advice and give it to someone who can raise him in a way bigger tank than a 90 Gallons, and maybe go and get some dwarf species or any species that would be appropriate for the size of tank that you have.

PS: If you want some Channa Gachua i will have some later on to give away, you only have to take care of shipping.

O and btw tokyogasmask not being able to own a bigger fish tank to house the micro does not equal irresponsibility...if i was completely unwilling to do anything to ensure my micro has a healthy life then that would be irresponsible. Its so annoying when people like you get super defensive for an animal and think its called for to essentially insult people who don't really have the right information for the simple fact that there is no real informal authority online about housing a micro. I've seen posts from people saying 75 gallons is good to people saying nothing less than 1500 gallons. Honestly unless u show me that you have some kind of degree in fish keeping at this point i'm just going to raise the micro by trial and error. If he gets to big, he gets to big and ill have to cross that bridge when i get there, right now its not the case at all at his size of 10.5" he has beyond enough room.

I'm not trying to insult you, just being honest.
Not being able to own a bigger tank and knowing the size they get to(as you do) and not moving it on before problems start IS irresponsible.
Simple as.

Infact IMO, not researching ANY fish before buying is irresponsible.
Yes, LFS should be a little more honest when selling fish such as Micros, but keeping fish is like keeping any pet, a little research is a must before buying.

You saying "If he gets to big, he gets to big and ill have to cross that bridge when i get there" that there is very irresponsible IMO. (note the IMO...)

There is plenty of information online about Micropeltes, and even my 10yr old daughter knows how to check a fishes keeping requirements with a simple search.

Do I have a degree in fish keeping? No.
Do I have the experience and knowledge to know what I'm talking about, thats up to you to decide, but i'm confident those here that know me that I have helped can vouch for that.

I have kept Micros (along with most breeds of Channa) and would only keep Micropeltes in a a pond or a pond sized tank.

And a side note Micropeltes being an active open water swimmer a 90gallon is just about adequate for a 10", not at all "beyond enough room".
Kept properly that Micro SHOULD of outgrown that 90g within a couple of months.
