O and btw tokyogasmask not being able to own a bigger fish tank to house the micro does not equal irresponsibility...if i was completely unwilling to do anything to ensure my micro has a healthy life then that would be irresponsible. Its so annoying when people like you get super defensive for an animal and think its called for to essentially insult people who don't really have the right information for the simple fact that there is no real informal authority online about housing a micro. I've seen posts from people saying 75 gallons is good to people saying nothing less than 1500 gallons. Honestly unless u show me that you have some kind of degree in fish keeping at this point i'm just going to raise the micro by trial and error. If he gets to big, he gets to big and ill have to cross that bridge when i get there, right now its not the case at all at his size of 10.5" he has beyond enough room.

Got to add a +2 to Tokyo's comments. My largest tank is a 180g and I've made the difficult decision to pass on raising aurantimaculata, despite they're being a dream fish of mine for years. Pure and simple a choice made through plenty of reading and consultation with experienced Channa keepers on this and other sites, and a desire to ensure such a magnificent fish is raised in the proper conditions. Sure I've got a science degree and 30+ years of experience in keeping and breeding many other fish, but no experience in keeping Channa. If I'd rested on my previous knowledge base I wouldn't be putting the fish first.

I've now switched focus to putting together a species tank of either pulchra, ornatipinnis, or stewartii as, like you, I don't have the room either for a 200+ g tank to house the larger species. No shame in that.

Hope that you don't lose the snakehead bug, but the micro should be re-homed if you cannot keep it properly.

Well Quasar anyone will here will give you advice and you can take it or leave it. But as other pointed out you need to responsible for your fish because they cannot be responsible for themself. Same thing apply to a dog or a cat, you need certain thing to take care of them well that rule applies to fish too.

You should really try to find a proper person to take care of your, soon to be, monster. And maybe go for a dwarf or smaller species. As for me i love Koi fish but i will never get them unless i build a proper pond.

All in all it's up to you.
