assassin snails, anetome helena. the most comprehensive information on them right now can be found at this link.

Yep. Sounguru is a member of AC and specializes in assassins. He updates that link pasted here by Rachel whenever more observations are conducted by members of forums where he is a member of.:)

you can try clown loaches. there is tons of info on them around.
Without considering the tank size and tankmates, I would never advise getting loaches. Getting them to eat the snails is poor excuse to start with loaches. There are also smaller species that do eat snails, not just the clowns themselves. Clowns are already overly exploited whereas the better options are plainly overlooked.

oOo! Do these guys eat those pesky pond snails? I didn't get far enough in the article to see weather or not they did. If so, where can I get one or two of these assassian snails?? I know my LFS doesn't carry these, just apple snails and for sure them lovely pond snails that hitch a ride with any plant or tank that has had plants in it :irked: I can't keep loaches even if I wanted to use them for snail removal, my water is just too hard for them I think. :(

Hi Docsoldlady,

Where is this NH per your location? I'm not sure if I understood what it is. Assuming you are in USA, go to Aquariacentral.com and PM msjinkzd, Sounguru or Arakkis for the assassin snails. They have plenty of those.
